Good for Your Studies
DISK’s primary responsibility is to ensure that DSV’s programmes maintain a high standard. If you believe that you have been graded unfairly or that your education does not meet the standard you expected, we can assist you through our academic representation. You can also email us if you are interested in working as an academic representative for DISK!
DISK also provides DISK Workshop, offering general tutoring to students who are struggling with a difficult assignment.
As a member, you also contribute to a higher membership count. The more members we have, the greater our influence when meeting representatives from the university and the business community, which benefits all DSV students.
DISK actively works to ensure that all DSV students have the best possible study environment. For this reason, we have a student safety representative who works exclusively with these matters. You can read more about how our student safety representative can assist you and how to contact them here.
Good for You
Every week during the autumn and spring semesters, DISK arranges a wide range of enjoyable events, as do our sections.
Take the opportunity to get involved in one of our sections and enjoy a fantastic student experience at DSV!
You will also have opportunities to meet companies through events, lectures and our career fair, Systemvetardagen.
By becoming active in the Business Relations Section, you can also help organise Systemvetardagen—an excellent addition to your CV.
DISK is affiliated with both SSCO and SFS. By becoming a member of DISK, you strengthen these organisations. SSCO and SFS work at a political level to improve conditions for students, including student finance, the housing situation in Stockholm and similar matters.
Thanks to our membership in SSCO, you are eligible to join SSSB’s housing queue!
SSSB carries out eligibility checks to confirm that its tenants are studying and have valid membership in an affiliated student union. For the verification to work, you must use the same email address with DISK as you use with SSSB, and you must be registered for courses at DSV. It is always the student’s responsibility to log in to SSSB and ensure that the correct personal information has been provided.
Good for Your Wallet
All DISK members gain access to Studentkortet, which serves as proof of student status when purchasing an SL travel card with a student discount. However, the SL discount requires a study rate of at least 75%—22.5 credits per semester. You can also access many other discounts through the Studentkortet website. You receive a digital card in the app by default, but you can also order a physical card.
As a DISK member, you receive member prices at our café, Snack Overflow, the Student Union Office and Foo Bar during all events—not only pub nights. The membership discount is 20% on all purchases. You can easily verify your membership at the café using Studentkortet, where the DISK logo should be displayed.
Active members receive even better prices—specifically, a 25 % discount, as a thank-you for your commitment. You can read more about the general benefits for active members under the Active Membership heading below.
You can find specific benefits for active members offered by our sections by visiting the section you are interested in. After only 62 cups of coffee , an ordinary member will have saved the equivalent of the entire semester’s membership fee!
Active Membership
By getting involved in one of the sections, you become an active member of DISK. You also become an active member by serving on the Board. As a thank-you for your commitment, active members receive certain benefits. For example, they receive an additional 5% discount in Foo Bar, the Student Union Office and the café, bringing the total discount to 25%.
As an active member, you will meet students beyond those taking the same courses as you. This is a great way to start building valuable connections for the future. Active members of DISK are also invited to certain special events. They have access to the active members’ room, which has a refrigerator, a computer and some space for hanging coats or storing bags. Each section also offers additional benefits specifically for its own active members.
Active members may also have the opportunity to represent DISK at official events, such as the Nobel Banquet, Valborgs Night at Skansen and doctoral conferment ceremonies at Stockholm City Hall.
Each section has its own requirements for becoming an active member. You can read more about these requirements on the sections’ own pages or speak to active members of the section you are interested in. Most sections also organise some form of appreciation party, while Klubbmästeriet holds internal banquets that are only open to its own members.
