DISK\u2019s Board includes a student safety representative who serves as a safety representative specifically for students. The representative is available to help DSV students with various problems that may arise in the study environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

How Does the Role Differ from a Regular Safety Representative?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n

The difference between a student safety representative and a regular workplace safety representative is that the student safety representative does not have certain rights and responsibilities that a safety representative at a workplace would normally have.<\/p>

Among other things, this means that the student safety representative does not have the same authority to intervene or require action to be taken.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Limitations of the Role<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A student safety representative:<\/p>

  • Does not have access to confidential information<\/li>
  • Does not have the authority to halt work<\/li>
  • Cannot request intervention from a regulatory authority in their role as student safety representative<\/li>
  • Is not required to report incidents to the police that would normally need to be reported, such as threats or similar situations<\/li><\/ul>

    The role therefore does not involve the same legal responsibilities as those held by a regular safety representative at a workplace.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    Although the student safety representative cannot request intervention from a regulatory authority as part of their official role, they may do so in the capacity of an individual student.<\/p>
