Why should you nominate yourself or someone else to the DISK board?

Because DISK carries out important work and the activities are largely formed by the members of the board. Because you love DISK, you are prepared to spend some time, have a real interest in contributing and improving the student union, and want to make your time here at DSV something special and memorable. Therefore, it is important to have good people in the board. It is a huge opportunity to develop yourself as a person. You have the opportunity not only to influence the social life that takes place around the University, but also what demands we make at the university regarding education. A willingness to work for one’s fellow students is the most important thing. We all know individuals who have a energetic force who can do wonders in the right position. Perhaps it is you who will carry one of the board’s positions with reverence, and create a student community where everyone can feel at home. In order for DISK to be moving forward and to continue to evolve, skilled and motivated people are required in the board. It’s very fun and educational to get involved and influence the university. You also get to know a lot of lovely people, which really is the biggest benefit of being a part of DISK. Your experience does not matter, it’s the passion and will inside you that matter! So nominate yourself or someone you know!

Treasurer

What does your position entail? What is the responsibilities of your position?

My position involves financial responsibility over DISK together with the Vice Cashier. What it means is the responsibility for writing the draft budget which the Board jointly presents, paying various invoices that appear, acknowledge items needed for various events such as KM’s pub activities or SK’s game nights. It is also to review all receipts as well as cash reports coming in every month and posting all economic events. Much of this is divided between the treasurers internally except the accounting itself, as the Treasurer is ultimately responsible for this

What would you say is the best about your position? What have you gained from your position?

What I’ve gained the most is I’ve grown as a person, learning to take responsibility for something that’s much bigger than myself. As well as having a much better understanding of how organisations and companies work economically, even if it is just a very superficial understanding.

Why should people nominate someone to your position on the board?

It is a big responsibility where you get the opportunity to grow as a person along with not just one Vice Treasurer but also the rest of the board. It is with the board that you decide on how we in DISK can assist our students in the best way to create a good environment for both educational and social contexts.

Vice-treasurer

What does your position entail? What is the responsibilities of your position?

Together with the Treasurer, you have the responsibility that DISK’s economy is in balance. The assignments are divided between the Treasurer and the Vice Treasurer and consensus is reached between both. It’s a heavy position, which means that you do continuous accounting for everything moving in and out of all DISK’s accounts. You record all transactions relating to the financial part of the organisation. Below this falls billing management, pub, student union office and cafe sales, ticket sales, event sales, purchase and receipt management. You manage cash, bank transfers and card transactions. You are consulted at purchases, you are a contact person for the bank, you make the budget and carry out the financial statements.

What would you say is the best about your position? What have you gained from your position?

I have learned a lot about how to get an overview of an entire organization’s economy and how to handle it properly. Your tasks are also clearly defined and you can plan your workload. You work as treasurer on your terms. This has made me motivated to continue to engage myself in DISK.

You should be a person that people trust. It’s important to have an eye for detail and enjoy managing numbers, and to see it in a logical way. Without treasurer and stable economy, there is no DISK!
