Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept credit cards in the cafeteria, student pub and the union reception. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Maestro, American Express, Diners Club and JCB.

Do you charge extra if i pay by credit card/cash at the union reception?

No, we do not charge extra for paying with card or cash.

I want to become a member, how do I do that?

Either come to the union reception and fill out a form there or sign up on this website. To do this you need to have either a T- or P- number, which you get from the university.

About T- and P-numbers, it is used for a lot of things so it is very important that you get one as soon as possible. Again this is distributed by the university.

If you get a swedish social security number this will replace your T-/P-number. It is therefore very important that you bring proof of this to our union reception(in person). Not doing this can cause issues with the SSSB queue.

Do you repay membership fees?

No, according to our bylaws we do not repay membership fees.

Why doesn’t my new adress show up straight away?

Our directory gets updated two times per year. So if you want your new adress to show up faster send an e-mail to kx@disk.su.se and dont forget to state your name and t/p-number.

I haven’t recieved my student card?
Your student card is uploaded to the app ‘Studentkortet’ on your phone(you’ll have to download the app), within 48h. We do no longer offer physical cards, as we want to protect the enviroment. If you still want a physical card you can apply for one on Studentkortets website. If it’s been more than 48h you are welcome to come by the student union office or send an e-mail to kx@disk.su.se and we’ll help you out.

Why have I recieved a student card?

The student card is your membership card and it is proof that you are a student and that you have paid the membership fee. You will need this proof if you intend to use the travel discount at SL and to recieve your various discounts.

Why haven’t I recieved an email from Studentkortet?

When your payment has been registered an e-mail with account information and how to use mobile app will be sent to you in about 2-3 days. This e-mail has been known to end up in the junk-mail.

Why don’t I have the SL-logo on my student card?

To be eligible for the discount at SL (and SJ) you need to study at at least 22,5 hp per semester (75% of full time), you also have to be registered with the university. If you meet this criteria and still don’t have the logo please e-mail us or visit our reception.

Which discounts do I get with the Student Card?

The discounts available are described at Studentkortets website. Unfortunately their website is not available in English so you will have to find a friend that speaks Swedish to translate it for you. We can’t translate the website for you but we can help you find a friend if you need assistance.

Why am I “parked” in the SSSB housing queue?

There are a number of things that can cause this. The most common reason is that you haven’t used the same e-mail when registering for SSSB and when registering for DISK. Other issues that can cause this is that you aren’t properly registered at the university/DSV or that you aren’t a member of DISK.

It’s up to you to make sure you comply with these points, unfortunately we can’t help you with this however if you have any questions about this we are happy to help.

If you get a swedish social security number this will replace your T-/P-number. It is therefore very important that you bring proof of this to our union reception(in person). Not doing this can cause issues with the SSSB queue.
